FAQ'S

GRP® ADAPT FEATURES

WHAT MATERIAL IS THE GRP® ADAPT MADE OF?

This mat is made from an open cell PU and rubber construction. The goal is to absorb moisture and provide maximum grip in both dry and wet conditions.

The GRP Adapt’s core and bottom layer are made with sustainably harvested natural tree rubber and manufactured in a sustainable factory in Spain that produces no toxic emissions, so it’s great for your practice and the planet.

I HAVE A LATEX SENSITIVITY, CAN I USE THE GRP® ADAPT?

Through Manduka's manufacturing process, the GRP® Adapt mat is 99% latex free. If you know you are sensitive to even traces of latex, we recommend you purchase a mat from our other mat series.

WHERE IS THE GRP® ADAPT MADE?

The GRP® Adapt is sustainably made in Spain from rubber and an absorbent PU top layer.

THE GRP® ADAPT IS CONSTRUCTED OF AN OPEN-CELL SURFACE, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

The GRP® Adapt is constructed of an open-cell surface (absorbent), meaning that it will allow moisture to be absorbed. Its innovative upper layer provides proven anti-slip control in all wet conditions, designed with the hottest, sweatiest yoga practice in mind.

The trade-off of an open-cell construction and the moisture-absorbent nature of the GRP® Adapt mat is its durability and will show signs of wear over time with use more quickly than a mat of closed-cell construction.

WHAT TYPE OF YOGA IS THE GRP® SERIES INTENDED FOR?

The GRP® and the GRP® lite are intended for hot yoga or for yogis who doesn't want to combine their mat with a towel when sweating. The GRP® has moisture activated grip, making the traction better as the practice gets sweaty.

The GRP® Adapt is versatile enough to offer ultimate slip-control from slow flows to sweaty session.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GRP® - HOT YOGA AND THE GRP® ADAPT?

Like the original GRP, the GRP Adapt is also made with absorbent PU on the top surface, and rubber on the bottom. The PU on the top is a different texture than the original GRP – on the Adapt, the PU is smooth. The Adapt can be used in dry and wet conditions – so it can be used in cool and hot classes alike.

    USE & CARE

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY GRP® MAT?

Use Manduka’s GRP Yoga Mat Restore to condition, clean and prevent buildup on the surface of your mat, while maximizing the performance and lifetime of your mat.

FOR MONTHLY GRP® RESTORE: Use a clean damp cloth, ensuring all excess water is removed from the cloth. Pump foam from GRP Restore onto the damp cloth, apply pressure while wiping down the top surface of your mat. Use between two to four pumps of restorative solution for each application. Repeat this process until the entire mat surface is covered. Rinse the cloth thoroughly to remove any residue of the foam and then wipe down the mat surface with a damp cloth using clean water. Hang mat to dry before rolling and storing. Please note that this should not be used as a daily cleaner.

Mats designed to absorb moisture (GRP® Series) should never be treated with disinfectant as the liquid will be absorbed into the mat and then cannot be thoroughly cleaned out.

    Monthly restore: GRP Restore

*DO NOT USE THE BOTANICAL CLEANER ON THIS MAT

HOW DO I STORE MY GRP® MAT?

For best performance, allow the mat to dry completely after use, then store it rolled. Do not leave the mat in direct sunlight. Due to the open cell construction and moisture-absorbent nature of the GRP Series, it will show signs of wear with heavy use.

CAN I APPLY MANDUKA’S MAT WASH AND REFRESH TO MY GRP MAT?

Yes - Spray the entire top surface of the mat and use a clean damp cloth to wipe the mat clean. You may also directly apply spray to a damp cloth and use to wipe mat clean. This helps ease the process as PU mat surfaces directly absorb moisture. For a stronger clean, spray generously on a clean, damp cloth and gently scrub any areas that have dirt or stains. Always dry your mat before rolling together or using.

Daily refresh: Mat Wash & Refresh

    SUSTAINABILITY

The GRP's core and bottom layer are made with sustainably harvested natural tree rubber. Because the GRP absorbs moisture, it will wear out with use. GRP Series are manufactured through a process that minimizes waste and toxic emissions, while maximizing efficiency in processes and recycling. Crafted in Spain.

The GRP Adapt's bottom layer is made of a rubber composite including sustainably harvested natural tree rubber. Because the GRP Adapt absorbs moisture, it will wear out with use. GRP Series are manufactured through a process that minimizes waste and toxic emissions, while maximizing efficiency in processes and recycling. Crafted in Spain.

    IS THIS NORMAL?

IS IT NORMAL FOR MY GRP® TO WEAR OUT?

Our GRP® mat has so-called open-cell surface which allows it to absorb all moisture and sweat. That is why it is great for hot yoga and maintains the grip throughout the practice but it also means it will break down over time and with use due to the absorption. This mat has a tri-layer construction and the top layer is the thinnest one, allowing the moisture to be absorbed by the middle layer. The top layer can start to show wear and tear over time and with use which is normal for an open-celled mat. This in comparison to our most durable mat, the PRO, which is a one layer construction with closed cell. If you have a more vigorous practice we recommend the PRO Series as this mat is designed to withstand such practices.
