Studio Spotlight: The White Door Studio

Founded by Emily and Sarah, The White Door Studio is a serene studio in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, blending yoga, creativity, and personal growth. With a focus on holistic well-being, the studio offers yoga and Pilates, community and special classes, transformative workshops, and a thoughtfully designed space that inspires connection and self-discovery. In this studio spotlight, they share their journey, vision, and the essence of their community.

Our story

Every great adventure begins with a dream. The White Door Studio was born from the shared vision of two women, Emily and Sarah, who wanted to share their passion for holistic health and personal growth with others. We dreamed of a space that would be more than just a yoga studio — a sanctuary in the heart of the city where people could reconnect with themselves and let their creativity flow freely.

What started as a shared dream gradually transformed into a clear vision: to create a space that provides people with the essential tools to discover and shape their authentic path. A place where traditional wisdom blends seamlessly with modern insights.

Today, The White Door Studio has grown into a versatile daylight studio — a bright, serene space where you can find:

  • Daily yoga and Pilates classes for all levels
  • Inspiring workshops and events
  • Professional photoshoots in a thoughtfully curated setting
  • Personal coaching focused on business growth
  • Interior design services to create your personal sanctuary — a place where harmony and functionality come together

How did you find yoga and what was your path from student(s) to teacher(s) and finally into a studio owner(s)?

Emily: I followed my first yoga teacher training in New York when I was 22, and I was in awe of the world that opened to me. From that moment practicing yoga and other consciousness practices have become my tool to discover and walk my own path. Along the way it awakened the desire to create a space that inspires others to do the same.

Is there a special teacher or guide that was instrumental in developing and sustaining your personal practice(s)?

Emily: It was mainly the experience that I always felt better after practicing any form of yoga. It has kept me coming back and fuelled my curiosity to explore what other practices are out there that bring me closer to my authentic self.

Why did you choose Manduka as your studio equipment partner?

Definitely the quality of the mats. We have the Manduka PRO yoga mats in the color Black Sage and as a studio where +40 yin and active yoga classes a week are taught, we wanted to make sure that our mats were applicable for all type of practices and wouldn't show any wear or tear over time.

Can you share the story behind the studio? What was the inspiration to open the space for the community?

The White Door Studio was born from our shared passion for a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. We envisioned a space where people could step away from the busyness of daily life, reconnect with themselves, and explore their creativity. More than just a studio, it’s a sanctuary where movement, self-discovery, and inspiration come together. We wanted to create a welcoming environment where the community could gather, whether through yoga, pilates, workshops, or simply by enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.

The studio space and aesthetics are beautiful, can you tell us what your inspiration was for the design?

Sarah: The design of The White Door Studio is inspired by simplicity, nature, and light. We wanted to create a space that feels warm, grounding, and calming—a sanctuary where people can truly feel at home. Natural materials, soft textures, and a neutral color palette complemented by our signature green tone reflect our vision of balance and harmony. Daylight plays a key role, symbolizing clarity and openness, and allowing creativity to flow freely. Every detail was chosen with intention, ensuring the space not only looks beautiful but also nurtures a sense of peace and connection.

What is the goal or mission of the studio?

Our mission is to empower people to nurture their well-being, recharge their energy, and embrace their authentic selves. Through a holistic approach to movement and personal growth, we offer a space where everyone feels supported and inspired. Whether through yoga and pilates or transformative workshops our goal is to create an environment where individuals can cultivate inner peace and live with intention.

How has the vision for the studio evolved since it first opened?

Since opening The White Door Studio, our vision has naturally evolved as we grew together with our community. Initially focused on providing a haven for movement and creativity, we have expanded to embrace an even deeper connection to holistic well-being and personal growth. Key moments such as facilitating workshops, events and ceremonies and seeing the transformative impact on participants have reinforced the importance of creating space for more than just physical practice. Collaborations with like-minded individuals and hearing the stories of those who have found inspiration here continue to shape our journey and encourage us to expand our offerings and refine our mission.

What do you want students to take away from an experience at the space?

At The White Door Studio, we want every student to leave feeling more connected to themselves, balanced, energized and inspired. Whether it’s through movement, reflection, or creativity, our aim is to provide an experience that nurtures both body and mind. We hope students take with them a sense of calm, clarity, and empowerment, along with the tools to integrate these feelings into their daily lives. Most importantly, we want them to feel supported, seen, and reminded of the strength that comes from staying true to themselves.

How do you support and encourage your teachers to bring their unique voices into their classes?

At The White Door Studio, we deeply value the individuality and creativity of our teachers. We encourage them to bring their unique perspectives, styles, and expertise into their classes, as we believe this diversity enriches the experience for our community.

Are there any upcoming projects or events to mention to the community?

We have some beautiful workshops coming up— a ceremony or deepening workshop is the ultimate gift, for yourself or a loved one. Our studio has previously been filled with enchanting cacao ceremonies, women’s circles, Kundalini activation sessions, sound journeys, and Ayurvedic workshops.

Discover what our teachers will be facilitating in the coming weeks and sign up right away. Be inspired by their ceremonies and workshops, guiding you on a deep dive within yourself. Explore new perspectives, deepen your practice, and allow transformation in a space where energy flows freely.
